remind me not to talk to chris on the phone anymore

Alison  ·  Nov. 29, 2006

i was properly sympathetic to the demise of the heating system in their new home til i got off the phone and realized that our furnace is not running either. she jinxed us. we won't freeze to death, luckily we have the 2 gas fireplaces and a couple of space heaters but i cannot believe that we used up $800 of oil. wow! and that is just for november, i guess we better look at weather proofing the house a bit better. sheesh, when it rains it pours, or more accurately when it snows and it snows even more and it is freaking cold to boot. i HATE being cold, it makes me crazy.

oh...maybe i was already crazy, ok, it makes me worse.

janice!!!! :) :) :) Thanks for making me spurt my morning coffee all over the keyboard! Hahahahahaha!

Carol

hey janice, the vet had to come out today cuz spritely's leg has gotten bad again....i offered him my place with all the animals, and he said yes to everything and everyone except the inside guys, ratz...i could feel a normal life just barely beyond my grasp. maybe he'll take over yours?

Janice

I jsut got in from shoveling mini pathes for my mini's to there potty areas and water dishes . How in the world can one sweat in weather like this is beyond me but i am lol. Patio umbrelles busted up from heavy snow and breaking up ice in the water and hauling to some is brutal on this old gal. I am suppsoed to go to work now?? I will go back to the horses and check water as it is warming up and left them in to eat there first flake of hay inside. then the driveway.. i can hear the room mate leaving as he has a 4x4 so why would he give a rats patootie about me. The driveway is laoded with snow and the bull dozers have made a nice pile right where i am to try and make it out. I left a shovel out there jsut in case... do i have to go?? I need the darn money..waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Carol

i will go and trudge thru the freaking snow and shove a freaking stick into the freaking oil tank and see if there is any freaking oil left in there.

and then i will put on my happy face for a telephone interview with a dog magazine this morning about this very wonderful place which is wonderful except it has alot of daily challenges that are driving me to drink. good thing we are out of oil AND bailey"s at the same time or i might turn into a hot chocolate and baileys drunk (is there such a thing?)

Jean

Carol, if you have gone through $800 of oil in one month, there is something seriously wrong with the furnace (or possibly a leak in the pipes from the tank to the furnace). When I lived in the northwest territories, where temperatures in the winter were customarily around minus 30 to minus 40, my bill for a very large home averaged $400/month. I know that was a few years ago, but even if gas has increased 100% since then, you shouldn't be going through $800 of oil at zero to minus 10 degrees here, for that little home with all those bodies and supplemental sources of heat.

Julie

good to know the dryer is working, i'm sure Missy will find another warm spot.
would you kiss my little kitty children for me?
i miss them.
now to try and sleep. why am i up at 12am??

Carol

i have been closing the doors, they are all locked in for several hours a day...i am not that nutz!
and hey...i finally fixed the dryer which has not been running for more then a couple of minutes at a time for days. it kept reading lint filter..which i kept cleaning, and then i took the basket out and wasted hours vacuuming every single crevice and opening that i could find, over and over again hoping to clear what ever was cuasing it to over heat and cut out. i took off hoses and vaccummed them too and that was a royal pain in the butt .....nothing worked. grhhh.
til 5 minutes ago, when i took the really nice and thick and HOT cat bed off the top of the dryer...i guess the dryer couldn't do it's work with it up there.
now it is running fine. sorry missy, go find a different warm bed.

Julie

I have to go with the you were already crazy. :p
Of course it would be warmer in there if you closed the doors, but then the children would flood the world even more and you would be gassed out by the fumes! hmm.. we need to do something about that....
