venting.

rescue is tough....you work fulltime so you can bring home a paycheque to pay for a place that is way beyond your means so a bunch of old and homeless animals have a decent place to live. those same animals require so much physicial, emotional and medical care that you have to freak out over enough regular money coming in from fundraisers and donations or where ever to barely tread water in a sea of giant never -ending bills.

add that to gluttonous goats trying to take you out at bedtime, a new and stressed border collie trying to remodel part of your face, (abby is much better tonight by the way!)...some doggy oaf following too close behind so he steps on your flip flop and you stumble forward and barely break your fall while an over 100 pounder steps on your no longer flip flopped foot and breaks two of your toes and at the same time you feel mystic's dangerous proctology stick poking at where no giant and deadly stick belongs.

ok...so rescue is tough. i get and accept that cuz right now i don't have a ton of choice. and i sure as shit don't go out beating the streets looking for these animals....unfortunately someone they come in contact with when they are in serious trouble has my freaking phone number.

but i tell you i am getting pretty freaking tired lately of the collisions occuring here because of these animals previous lives. i don't get why folks feel the need to track the ones they messed up....we had ANOTHER one come here today. geez..over the years...i have had folks harangue and threaten me by email and phone, sneak in as tourists, potential volunteers or adopters and try to see them again or out and out try to sue me because of the pain and suffering THEY felt when they gave away their neglected or abused pet to someone else who down the road, turned around and gave them to me...it is just dishonest, melodramatic, or dirty, cloak and dagger bullshit.

here is the blunt bottom line on the animals living at saints..i am sorry, i don't mean to be mean but it has to be said. the majority of these animals are here BECAUSE of previous families decisions, actions (or lack there of) somewhere down the pike. these animals come in SICK, NEEDING MEDICAL CARE, UNDERWEIGHT, OVERWEIGHT, EMOTIONALLY MESSED UP, IN PAIN AND SUFFERING FROM ABUSE OR NEGLECT.

IT IS WHY THEY COME HERE....BECAUSE THEY ARE SO PHYSICALLY OR EMOTIONALLY MESSED UP, USED UP, PASSED FROM HOME TO HOME TIL THEY DON"T KNOW WHERE THEY BELONG ANYMORE....AND....THEY DON"T REALLY BELONG ANYWHERE ANYMORE ANYWAY BECAUSE OF ALL OF THIS.....THEY ARE DEEMED UNADOPTABLE.

and yes i am yelling..i am totally fed up with people trashing some poor animals life without even a clue about the damage, the pain, the suffering that they caused. coming here and asking to see, visit or get back "your "dog, cat horse, goose or whatever... is NOT a great opener. i think you should be hiding your face in shame that your animal was in such terrible straits to need to come here at all....are you nutz to even admit that YOU were the one ultimately responsible for his rotten life, for the physical pain and the heartache he carried here with him...that i now have to fix and erase from his memory forever?

come on..give me a break...no one can be that utterly clueless about the suffering to that animal that they caused and if they can be...god help the rest of their animals if they have any more.

sorry..but honestly...people need to let go when they irredeemingly fuck up...it is hard enough undoing lifetimes of damage, don't go out of your way to make it harder on all of us...just leave us alone....whatever animal you used to have, and abused, neglected, sold, signed over, free leased, gave away, traded, got rid of or whatever...is NOT your animal anymore.

Erin, today Mystic was dragging around a stick the size of a tree. She almost did an inspection on Brent's butt. Hope Carol was okay, if it's the same stick it's a doozy.
Way to Go, Carol, you tell it like it is. BRAVO.

I think a 172 pound senior neuf who HAS to follow you everywhere and lie down behind you while you are at the stove cooking/washing dishes/or otherwise doing something that has you standing still is almost as bad as an oaf stepping on your flip flop!

erin

holy shit! i wouldnt have minded telling them where to go and exactly how to get there! mystic has a big stick meant to go up asses you say? what nerve!
