cali went very peacefully at our vets this afternoon..she was not upset or distressed, she was purring when she passed from this earth. cali would have been about 16 years old, she came in from the chilliwack spca when she was 13. she had been surrendered when her person passed away. i still remember her hiding there so overwhelmed at losing her home and i am so glad she did well here...even when her cancer showed up a couple of years ago..cali just took it in stride and kept living her life.
rest in peace cali, you were a sweet and very brave little cat.
maxine died suddenly during the night without any warning at all. she has not been sick or acting any different than usual so her death was a real shock. i took her in to the vets this morning and asked them to do an autopsy because i wanted to make sure we hadn't missed anything. the vet told me this afternoon it was most likely a sudden cardiac arrest as her heart showed significant disease. my best age guess on max was about 12 years old i think.
maxine came to us several years ago from LAPS. she had been surrendered and then adopted out but returned for litter box issues. she could be a bit bossy and impatient with the other cats but was always a total love bug with us.
please rest in peace also maxi-cat, you shared your big heart so well with us.
