Little Anxious Andy came into a local
pound with 6 other similar dogs as a stray. The staff
believe the dogs may have escaped from a puppy mill.
Some of the females were pregnant and none of the males
were neutered. Most of the dogs did well within the
shelter and in foster homes. Andy did not.
Andy is a fear-biter. He bit four people and it began
to look like this little dog was not suitable for adoption
so Andy was transferred to SAINTS. He is a poorly socialized
and very frightened little fellow. He has never bitten
anyone at SAINTS. We are not sure if Andy can overcome
his extreme fear of the human race, but we have the
time and the patience to wait and see, and let Andy
decide when he is ready.
Andy continues to enjoy life at SAINTS and he still is not all that interested in humans (unless it is pizza night or someone has some pretty good treats). Then Mr. Shy One forgets he is shy and pops his feet right up onto your leg to get first dibs on whatever you have that looks good. He is looking decidedly raggety right now and we are just waiting for some warmer weather to sedate the little wild man and shave him up for the spring. Andy is not an option for wearing a warm sweater since we can't get one on and off him. So he will continue to look like a bedraggled orphan til we can clean him up without freezing him. |
