My vehicle needs to go to the Dr

I’ve pushed it as far as I dare… I was almost stuck way up in North Van. I can’t get out to SAINTS tomorrow & am hoping someone can pitch in & help Carol with the barn in the morning ?  I think it is supposed to be a nice day… : – )

How’s Dex ?

Wow did I miss SAINTS this weekend…

.. however if you are ever looking for a great get-away for a week-end , where you can take your dog & they are just as welcome as the human guests… go to Bluff Hollows Bed & Breakfast. What a great week-end it was. Nice private cabin, walk out the back door & you can spend hours hiking in beautiful old growth forest ( I only got lost once … well that I counted anyhow ). A short drive gets you to beaches where the pooches can play in the water… super yummy breakfasts & wonderful hosts !!! My guys are now totally flaked out & so am I.  I sure missed my SAINTS fix though & not sure I’ll make it until next week-end before coming out…. I hope the the photographer got a greatr shot of Dexter… do you get copies of the pictures he takes ?  Or can you buy some ?

Did the crew miss me ?

I almost hit a kitten on my way home..

he is a 5 or 6 month old orange kitty. Ran right out in front of  my car , 10 o’clock this evening. He is in my bathroom, asleep in the sink purring up a storm after eating the treats I brought home for my cats.    Do you know anyone who would like a very cute little guy ?   I do not want 4 cats… my guilt of not having enough individual time for the crew I have now , is all I can take.

I saw Hannah Banana today..

I walked up at lunch & watched through the window before going in.. Hannah was lying upsidedown, in the middle of the lobby, all four feet in the air, getting a belly rub from a young male employee, it was so cute. we had a visit, she had just come back from a walk, so I thought she had earned the treats I brought, then I walked back to work with a smile…

Roxie has back problems ….

and I suck at not freaking out !!!!  She went in for X-rays & when the vet left me a message… did he say , not to worry it’s something we can manage… No , he says… ” we’ve completed our exam & I’ll definatley spend some time with you explaining things when you come to pick her up.. call me after 3 ”  He left the message around 11:30 .. me , wait until after 3 to find out what was going on… No way. I called back, received news.. that I didn’t reallly understand… thank goodness I was at SAINTS & Carol was able to bring me back to earth & quell some of the anxiety that was bubbling up into my heart.  It seems Roxie’s vertabrae are fusing together & one knee joint is somewhat flat on one side… I’m not sure where this is going but I love this dog so much !!!she’s 4 years old… this is not supposed to happen to a young dog.

My very scary moment

This post is not about the SAINTS animals, but one of my own, the experience left me drained & exhausted today .

Last night I was visiting a friend who I have dinner with at least once a week , my dogs love it there & I walk his dogs regularly with mine. I went to go to the bathroom & Levi, who is one of those dogs, that no matter how many times I go into that tiny room, follows me in because a) he thinks there is a trap door & I’m going to leave without him or b) he knows that this is a great time to get some good loving while Mom is seated & has nothing else to do with her hands , other than pet & scratch him behind his ears or rub his belly. Last night was different.. it took a moment for me to realize he had his head behind the toilet & was sniffing or eating something, when I pulled him back and looked, what I saw made my stomach sink. There was a small saucer and on it, were 7 or 8 pellets that I recognized as rat poison . To make a long story short.. I really had no idea if he ate what was there..or was just sniffing the left overs. I called Carol & she told me what I already knew ( i think I just needed to tell someone ) he had to go in. Poor little Levi was so happy to go into the clinic & see the people .. until we headed for the exam room..the brakes went on , & I had to carry him in. We induced vomiting & after  10 minutes or so , I headed home.

I could not sleep all night & cried several times , simply out of fear of what may have happened. I was late for work this morning & left early because I needed to be with my furbabies. We went for a long walk on the dyke and both Levi & Roxie were the happy go lucky pair they always are, my tension finally left & was replaced with the overwhelming love I have for all of my gang. It was a scary moment in time & my friend has promised not to put out any more poison.

It made me think how often Carol must have very scary moments & I need to learn how to handle these moments better. Thanks for being there for me Carol.
