Pokey...the goat - he's huge, looks more like a goat crossed with a horse.
Carol can correct me if i'm wrong, but I believe he was a 'stray' found up near alouette lake and they believe his mate was shot.
truthfully carol told me to put up a 'name the goat' contest, but i'm trying to sell the name Pokey. Carol thought of calling him polkadot, cause he has some, but you can't go around saying 'come here polka dot' - Pokey sounds much better.
but I'm guessing no one else will like my name for him, so feel free to offer other choices and, like normal, carol has the final say. Pokey pokey pokey

Here is Cleo and Mugsy:
they are both very very sweet and like lots of attention

Here is Packer (looking like he's dead, but he's really alive, just rests with his eyes open):
He's like a Copper that you can try to hide food from (not always successful, but it's a little easier with him being blind)

Karen

We ended up being really late and had to get home to "mind the farm"...I'm sure you can relate. I'm emailing you.

Deb

Okay, I was thinking soon there would be the SAINTS Three Philly Goats Gruff.......*sigh*

Carol

and where the heck were you on monday anyway...i just remembered i didn't see you!

Carol

yes he is adoptable and if you adopted him you could name him gerald too...otherwise i have decided to call him "pokey pete"...pokey cuz nicole always gets shot down (except for hannah and wesley rockstar) and pete so that when he pokes the feed bowl right out of my arms in the pissing down rain and it is lost in the muck on the way to the barn...i can yell at him and say "OH FOR PETE"S SAKE!"

Michelle

I don't know...I like the name Pokey, but now that Walter has been thrown into the mix, I'm leaning more toward that one - Sorry Nicole!

Lynn P

He's a Nubian Goat right? ... New goat .. Nubian goat .. I vote for calling him Newbie!!!

Shell

I was going to comment on Pokey, it's cute. But looking at the picture, there's nothing diminutive about him. Walter seems like a good name.

I love the look of Mugsy and Cleo and can't wait to meet them both on Sunday. Packer looks like he's enjoying your couch; good luck trying to get him out of your animal-free room, Carol!

i'm glad 'pokey' hasn't been vetoed yet.
mo, i'm not out tomorrow, bc i have a soccer game at 10am. you will have to get your own coffee (or just drink the bailey's straight). i may try to come out sunday, otherwise i probably won't see you until next saturday.

Carol

gumby was green and pokey was orange rae..i know this cuz it was my sister's favorite show and she had gumby and pokey toys..i however had bald barbies.

Christine

How about "Chance" because he was lucky to have survived, especially if his mate was shot!!

Rae

I like Pokey. I'm sure he can be pretty pokey with that inquiring nose of his. Does anyone remember the Gumby and Pokey show with the orange guy and the little green horse or pony that were made out of plastercine? Now that was a long time ago.
I really like the description of Packer and I am very glad he's just resting with his eyes open and not really dead!

Melissa

They remade the books Dick and Jane you can buy them now. See Carol run to the store. Buy Carol, buy.
I like spot too - can I change my vote?

Deb

Pat the Cat and Spot the Goat? Then you can have Find the Horse, Call the Dog, Catch the Rabbit and Herd the Sheep.

I liked "Puck" for the goat, but Phil is pretty cool. :o)

Carol

how about "spot" how many goats do you know who are named "spot" and if we someday got stuck with 2 more we could name them dick and jane!
sigh, i remember learning to read on those books, do they still use them?

Emma

My suggestion would be" Grayson" the goat but I do like" Pokey" because it's fun!

Mo

Walter has my vote & only because I love the actor Walter math?? I can't spell the rest... Great pics Nic. Are you out tomorrow... if you are , will you bring me a coffee ? I'll have the baileys.. it's been a rough week.

Carol

oh and great pics of mugsy and cleo...that made me laugh, they look utterly crazed!

Carol

how about phil??? how many goats do you guys know who are named phil?
he followed me around while i cleaned the small barn and he came when i called..."Phil" and i bet his name before might even have been phil cuz he really seems to like it.
i vote for phil goat saints newest member.
my other choices would be walter or pokey (i could call him pukey when he pisses me off) or arthur because he is quite kingly.

I just have to add....while looking at packer again, what a cute little fella, I went back to read about him from when he arrived becuase as I had suspected he seemed to have been dumped by his owners. granted they left him in good hands, but honestly, when the dreaded thought of Venices time coming crosses my mind, the only comfort I get is knowing that I will be with him hopefully in that very moment, comforting and loving him. And I would rather starve myself for whatever care he needed than give him up. I just don't understand it..... its amazing how differently people are made emotionally.....hope packer is happy at saints.

The new guys are all so cute. I have a friend who's dalmation was named pokey. so I like the name Pokey...but he does kind of look like a walter now that it was mentioned - especially in the head on shot - either way he looks very happy :)

Melissa

I LOVE the name Pokey for him! One vote for Pokey here.
I have never seen a picture of a goat with a smile before - gave me a good laugh.
Thanks

Erika

Nice goat!! Is he friendly?
My most favorite goat was named "Chauncy".

Oh I'm so glad to see pix of the new guys. I have to admit that 1/2 the time I'm not sure what type of animal Carol is speaking about & I need to flick back & forth to the photos & figure out whether she's being kicked by a cow, horse or what...... So pix are very helpful.
Pokey - hmmm. Can't say that name grabs me. My mind wandered from polka-dot to polka (the dance) and the king of polka: Walter Ostanek. Sooo, I suggest Walter. I love those older names that just don't get used so much....
