I need to come up with an idea for the March pubnight that will be just as successful as "Save Carol's Hair". So I stole the idea of baking cupcakes from the New South Wales SPCA. Essentially they invite the whole of New South Wales to bake cupcakes and then sell them on one day. It is made more interesting by having people post their cupcake creations on line or to get companies to have a cupcake day at work. Contests are formed and winners of the best looking or tasties cupcakes are announced.

I have spoken to Carol and I few of the volunteers about this idea and have received both positive and negative comments so I thought I would post the idea here and see what input I get.

Thanks
Sheila

Ooooohhh...I've just ordered a new vegan baking book but it's strictly cookies!! I passed up the cupcakes one 'cos I've never been a big fan. Maybe we can extend it to baked goods?

Hi Jenn

I kind of left it vague on purpose because I wanted to see what suggestions people made. But maybe it was too vague - so hopefully with your input and my vagueness we will get some suggestions.

ok. fine pick on poor me again......but it better be a lemon marangue pie and you have to bake it! (how the heck do you spell marangue anyway????)..i don't want to be picking no icky gross raisins outta my hair.

Hi Sheila I have a good idea of what you envision for this fundraiser as you explained it to me before. But could you just clarify perhaps for the others what exactly it entails ... i.e. each person who participates bakes and sell their cupcakes. For example. I can bake a dozen cupcakes and sell them at my work for 4.25 each and raise $50.00 for SAINTS. Then I can also bake a dozen cupcakes and sell them to my friends. There is another $50.00. Now I have raised $100. And if 30 people raise $100 each that is $3,000. This is a fundraiser people who live far way can participate in too which is great.

Also this pubnight will take place around the same time as last year: March so that gives people plenty of time after the new year to bake, bake, bake!

The total amount raised will be revealed at the pubnight again and to make it very interesting (and mean again because I like being mean) why don't we create a twist ... if we cannot raise the same or more than last year ($7600) in pledges/cupcake sale then I get to throw a pie at carol :) haha how about a pie that looks like pheobe all red and whiriling. for those of you that need reminding of last years pubnight (and my evilness) see this post http://www.saintsrescue.ca/wordpress/?p=6071

**this time I will bring my video camera so we can capture the evil excitment!! Oh poor carol.

Carol
