living with the tazmanian devil

has it's own unique set of perks.

it teaches you to look deep below the surface...to turn off your eyes, your ears, your mind, your mouth and reach out to connect to another completely annoying and problematic being with just your deaf, dumb, blind, unthinking heart.

little black buddy...such a pain in the ass. he is a snarling, barking, screaming, biting, disruptive little monster who creates utter chaos everywhere.

and i love him.

i love reaching out to touch him as he finally lets go of the hurricane inside him and calms down enough to settle for bed. i love the way he cocks his head to snuggle into the palm of my hand. i love the soft and gentle kisses he blesses my fingertips with.
and i love how as each day slips by, he becomes more and more responsive to the calming effects of my hands.

buddy doesn't have a clue how to be a good dog, a social dog, a cooperative dog...a nice dog. all he knows how to be is an over reactive royal pain in the ass.

but buried deep inside that obnoxious, irritating little black fuzzy body is a sweet and gentle little soul peeking out of the dark shadows just waiting to be noticed, waiting to be loved.

big sigh....the little bugger has finally found that.
(but it took a while.)
